BD 120 – Data Flow Diagram
After collecting requirements and creating a target data model, it is time to create a source to target map known as an ETL Data Flow Diagram (DFD). This course both describes the role of a DFD and demonstrates the creation of a simple DFD.
This course continues from where BD 110 (dimensional modeling introduction) left off. With a simple data model in place this course dives deeper into the ETL design. The source system, AdventureWorks, is researched and a data flow diagram is created.
- Introduce ETL data flow diagrams
- Create a simple ETL data flow diagram
- BD 100 – Development Workflow
- BD 110 – Dimensional Modeling Introduction
Configuration & Tools
- SQL Server 2012 Database Engine
- SQL Server 2012 Management Studio
- Sample Database – AdventureWorks 2012
- Visio 2010
