Prior to March 2025, I had only heard of “Microsoft Fabric” from logging into PowerBI and seeing the Fabric loading symbol. LeapFrogBI sent half of their developers to attend the Microsoft Fabric Community conference, FABCON this past March. I was part of the group that attended the event in Las Vegas, NV. After 5 days, I knew I needed to learn more about Fabric on my own.
One of the opportunities at FABCON was learning about how to get certified, and I attended that workshop. All FABCON attendees were eligible for a voucher for a free exam if they completed several steps.
1. I signed up for the Microsoft Fabric Community.
2. I completed all the Fabric Modules within Microsoft Learn by the deadline.
3. I had to complete the exam prior to June 5th.
The exam was fairly difficult. Even though I had access to the Microsoft Learn website, finding the correct information was a challenge. I took several practice exams and watched HOURS of videos in preparation (see below for resources). I had been exposed to some of the exact questions on the exam in my practice, but there were some that I had no idea on even after all my prep.
After all that excitement and studying, I passed! As of May 29, 2025 I am a Microsoft Certified Fabric Data Engineer Associate. This certificate is like the others that Microsoft offers, where I will have to renew it by passing a quiz every year. Until then, I plan to use my knowledge to help our existing and new clients meet their data needs! Ping me if you have any questions.
